Endodontic retreatment is generally considered the first choice option when failure of an initial treatment occurs. The presence of bacteria and their by-products embedded in the failing obturation material and in canal intricacies is often linked to the loss of integrity of the hermetic seal of the initial fillin , leading to the spread of post-treatment disease. It is therefore of utmost importance to remove all the root canal filling material effectively prior to negotiating the canals to their full extent.
