Biomimetic Dentistry in the Posterior Region: From Direct to Indirect

Presented by Javier Tapia-Guadix, DDS, CG Artist

The rehabilitation of posterior region using bonded restorations has proved to be a great step forward in conservative dentistry. From single restoration to full mouth rehabilitation, biomimetic dentistry represents a new challenge for materials as well as operator skills. The knowledge of bio-mechanic considerations such as limits of restorative materials and remnant dental structures, as well as the careful application of bonding techniques are a key factor for good prognosis of this kind of treatments. Furthermore, the indication shift between direct and indirect restoration often seems to be a difficult dilemma. The approach of all these challenges is possible using a proper systematic work based on research reference together with a rational clinical evaluation.
